Recurring Income is another term for residual income. In a nutshell, there are three (3) types of income streams that you may have coming into your business.
- If you do a one-time job, sale or perform a contract, you get paid once and the income stops there.
- If you do a normal 9 to 5 job, you will continue to get paid as long you continue to work for your employer—often called a linear income. This is the type of income that the majority of workers “enjoy.” Even if you are a neurosurgeon, lawyer or engineer, you are only paid as long as you continue working. - The third type of income is the recurring income where you are paid even after you have stopped working. For example, you wrote a book and as long as your book continues to sell, you will continue to receive royalty income for a work done once.

Okay, let us be clear about one thing. We are not talking about porn sites or anything else of that nature. When we talk about strange Internet businesses, we are really talking about a very particular niche market.
A niche is simply a segment of a business area or subject that isn’t discussed much, but has a lot of consumer interest. The classic example of a niche market is Star Trek. The show has spawned a legion of fans. Those fans go to conventions, buy every kind of Star Trek product imaginable and generally are very loyal to the brand. Although some people consider Star Trek fans to be a bit weird, they are a representative market.
One approach to making money on the Internet is to focus on a very particular niche. Adult web sites are the biggest revenue producers on the web. Regardless of your view of those sites, they offer an important lesson. Every single adult site is a niche site. Revenue studies show the adult sites that are very niche defined absolutely rake in the cash. This is a lesson you should take to heart.
Focusing on a niche market has some serious advantages. The level of competition in the niche is almost always going to be lower than in a more general market. Since there are fewer competitors, you will be able to become a leading figure in the niche should you so desire. This leads to publicity and so on. This is good. Very good!
Going with a niche market is a great idea, but finding a strange niche is even better. Strange niches tend to have a smaller population of interested people [i.e. potential customers], but they are also ready to buy if you can provide them with something they have been looking for but can’t find. Just as important, they will come back to buy more and tell there friends. This is also very good.
A classic example of a strange Internet business is gourds. It took me some time to figure it out, but gourds are melon-like bulbs. Apparently, people like to dry them out and then paint on them. A lot of people like to do this – maybe 50,000 searches a month are undertaken for gourd keywords. A few years back, there was almost no competition for rankings. You can guess what happened. Gourd sites started popping up everywhere. I apologize for saying this if you are a gourd fan, but painting gourds is just strange. This makes it a perfect Internet business!
So, where do you find strange internet business ideas? You have to hunt. Ah, you knew it wouldn’t be that easy, eh? A good place to start looking is your own life. What odd little things do you like that you don’t tell anyone about. Do some keyword research to see if there are others out there sharing your quirk. If so, you have the perfect Internet business because you know something about it and have some passion for the quirk.

Stop Charging by the Hour and Make More Money as a Creative Professional

One of the biggest challenges with a creative business is getting paid what you are worth. The root of the problem isn’t that the client doesn’t have the money and it isn’t that the client isn’t willing to pay you what you are worth. The root of the problem is how you are charging and how you are creating value in the mind of the client.
First, you must create a business based on value pricing and not hourly pricing. The number one worst way to charge (and most creative businesses are charging this way) is by the hour. Frankly, it shouldn’t matter how long it takes you to solve the client’s problems or provide your service, it should matter that the client is getting what he needs and what he wants. If you’re creating value and you’re giving them value, they’ll pay you for that value. They shouldn’t be paying you for your time. If you’re being paid for your time you’re essentially setting the ceiling to how much money you can make because you can only work so many hours.
Therefore, you must determine, specifically what your value is to the customer, not how many hours you will work for that customer.
To do this, ask yourself the following questions:
• How do you impact that customer or potential client?
• What do you provide to them that will help them and helps solve their problems? How will solving these problems impact the customer? Is it a problem with high impact or low impact?
• What is important to the customer? Why is it important to the customer? How important is it?
• Have they had experiences working with someone in your type of business before? If so, was it a good or back experience? Why? Exactly what happened?
• Why is the client coming to you for this issue?
• What is the client’s definition of success with this project? Ask him to describe specific ways he will know he made the right choice in hiring you.
By getting the answers to these questions – not guessing what the client will say, but actually getting the client to answer these questions – you will have the information you need to create VALUE in the mind of the client. If they perceive your work to be valuable, they will be thrilled to pay you. If they do not perceive your work to be of value, they won’t pay you no matter how low you go on the pricing scale. It’s all in the mind of the client. Get in their head and understand specifically what they want and, even more specifically, why they want it. Once you do that, getting paid what you are worth is a piece of cake!

There are heaps of ebooks and membership sites on the online teaching you how to make money with Adsense websites. With so much information, you’ll be overloaded. Well I’ve read them, joined them and know what works and what does not. Here’s my advice.
Adsense is a Google advertising tool that is placed on your website. The ads that are shown on the website are determined by your content – the text on your website. If you have pages and pages of articles on a certain topic, such as “Internet Marketing” then the ads shown will be all be related to that topic. Your webpages should contain keyword related to internet marketing such as “email marketing”, “Adsense”, “ebooks”, “web traffic”, “affiliate programs” etc…
Therefore the visitor on your website will likely click on the ads since they have an interest in them. Otherwise they wouldn’t be reading your article in the first place.
So the most important thing you need for a good website that generates automatic income using Adsense is “Content”. Where do you get this content? There are three ways:
- Write the content yourself
- Pay someone to write the content (about $5 per article, the cheapest rate currently)
- Buy Public Label Resale (PLR) articles and alter the content
The easiest way is the last option – Buy PLR articles and change the words yourself.
With PLR articles you can do whatever you want with the article and even add your name to it so that you’re the author. There are many places on the internet where you can buy these articles. They are normally sold in a batch of 10 or more that are related to a certain topic.
You can even purchase websites with PLR articles in them and have an Adsense website online right away. Again there are many places to buy these Adsense websites on particular niches.
Now the following advice is worth gold so please read carefully.
You can’t just buy ready made websites with PLR articles and put in on the web. You’ll have so many competitors with the exact same site and the search engines will ban you for having duplicate content. You’ll have no search engine traffic and you can forget about people clicking on your website.
What you have to do is alter the PLR articles. My recommendation is to alter them by 50% to be on the safe side. I alter all my PLR articles 50% before placing them on my website. This makes them original and therefore more valuable. Search engines will index all of your pages so your website will be listed under several keywords depending on the content.
The next thing you need is a good design for your website that will contain all your own articles with other people’s articles mixed. For the website, you can either design it yourself or buy a template.
A word of warning. Make sure the design makes the Adsense ads stand out on your website and also blend in with the background. For example, make the ads borderless and the colour to be the same as your website. This way, it seems that the ads are really part of your website. People tend to dislike clicking on ads.
These are the 2 most important things for an Adsense website. However, there are other additional things you need such as:
- XML maps which Google loves to search and index
- A script to rotate your articles so that it seems that your website has new content updated regularly
- Link exchanges with other websites so that you get traffic from them and also get ranked higher by search engines
- Search Engine Optimize your website so that it ranks high in the search engines
The final piece of the puzzle for a successful website is to drive traffic to it. You can do this also by purchasing PLR articles and modifying the words so that you can add your name to it. After that submit it to article directories and with your resource box at the bottom, people will read it and visit your website.
PLR articles are very important. You need it for the content of your website and to drive traffic to your website.
That’s all you need to create a website you can put on the internet that makes you money on auto-pilot. It will sound overwhelming for beginners but there are easier ways.
